Water

Clean water is something most of us take for granted. Our next project is to get clean running water to the children. At present, the government provides the 500 people of Skaaprus one medium sized tank of water every few days and otherwise they are left to fend for themselves. The women walk many kilometres every day with jerry cans on their heads to fetch water. The water they collect is filthy and very polluted. Finding clean drinking water in South Africa is becoming increasingly difficult.

We have discovered a borehole with clean water near the ground of the nursery school. We are raising funds to buy a wind pump, water tank and plumbing that will provide the children with clean running water and the whole community, with a place close by to fetch clean water. This project will not only make their lives easier but will save lives.
