What has been achieved

A safe early-learning centre in Bambanani Village

When community leaders explained that parents had no safe place for pre-school children while they searched for work, Ian and the community worked together to create the day care centre. What began with local resources and volunteer support has become a long-term place of care, learning and nutrition.

Children prepared for school

Vulinqondo has helped more than 150 children graduate from early childhood care. The centre focuses on learning through play, routine, safety and nutrition so children can enter primary school with a stronger foundation.

Nutrition and daily care

Food is a core part of the work. Regular meals help children stay healthy, concentrate and grow, while also easing pressure on families in a community where unemployment and poverty remain serious challenges.

Governance and accountability

Vulinqondo Day Care Centre is registered as NPO 143-518. Love Africa Youth Denmark has provided a stable donor-facing base since 2016, with clean accounts and a route for accountable international support.

Recent progress and work in progress

  • Vulinqondo continues to care for children in Bambanani Village, with urgent 2026 work focused on compliance, safe space and staffing.
  • Nkanyezi Yokukhanya Day Care Centre in Mubuza has become a priority, with 33 children needing safer learning, food, kitchen, water and sanitation support.
  • R20,000 has already been raised toward the first Nkanyezi kitchen setup and three toilets.
  • A practical R70,000 target has been identified for a basic 13m x 5m classroom and office structure at Vulinqondo, including local/community labour where possible.

Next goal

Turn the proven track record into a stronger public fundraising story: clear achievements, current needs, and accountable support routes.
